Founded in 2018 with a vision to reinvigorate Chicago’s technology community, P33 seeks to work
collaboratively with Chicago communities to make the region an inclusive global technology leader
where all people thrive. P33 has launched a multi-stakeholder initiative, TechRise, to support Black and
Latinx Chicago tech founders, which includes: a) a series of pitch competitions awarding $10 to $50
thousand in non-dilutive grants to Black and Latinx idea and seed stage tech founders over the next
three years; and b) an online community to help diverse founders find funding, peers, training, and
mentorship to launch and grow thriving tech-enabled businesses. The TechRise initiative seeks to establish Chicago as a leading city for Black and Latinx founders in the United States; create sustainable assets and wealth for Black and Latinx tech founders by increasing funding in their businesses; and increase the number of employees for Black and Latinx technology companies to narrow the wealth gap and feed the diverse talent pipeline.
P33 is a nonprofit with a mission to advance Chicago’s tech economy and drive inclusive economic growth for the Chicagoland region. It works with Chicagoland stakeholders to build the most digitally prepared workforce, close gaps in the growth stage start-up ecosystem, establish the region as the leader in advanced analytics, and translate science into commercial impact. The award supports the organization’s general operations.
