The Opportunity Agenda is a national, nonprofit social justice communications lab focused on building a culture of greater and more equal opportunity for all by advancing narratives that push for transformational and systemic change and challenging counternarratives that exclude and divide communities. It works with a national network of 3,000 social justice leaders, influencers, and directly affected individuals to incubate effective research- and experience-based cultural and communications strategies. It builds the communication capacity of grassroots leaders through training and resources and engages with journalists, artists, creatives, and culture makers to amplify the voices of marginalized communities. This grant provides general operating support to the Opportunity Agenda for a range of activities and offerings designed to increase the number of people – especially those from directly impacted and other vulnerable communities – skilled in using narrative and cultural strategies to effectively counter and replace narratives rooted in white supremacy, misogyny, and economic oppression. Its goal is to use media and culture to develop more inclusive narratives that lead to more just and responsible policies and greater opportunity for all.
