Established in 2011 by 8 founding countries (Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Norway, the Philippines, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States), the Open Government Partnership is a multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance. There are presently 76 countries in the Partnership, including Nigeria. The award is to strengthen accountability and anticorruption in Nigeria. It supports the participation of at least 10 OGP champions from Nigeria including members of the Working Groups and Coordination Committee to attend and participate in discussions and networking during the 2018 biennial OGP Global Summit in Tbilisi, Georgia.
