The How Housing Matters to Families and Communities competitive research program is a multi-year, Foundation-supported effort to build a body of evidence to guide U.S. housing policy and practice. Federally-funded foreclosure mitigation programs for delinquent borrowers in the form of housing counseling or mortgage modifications have shown mixed success. The Ohio Housing Finance Agency will use this grant to examine the effect of federally-funded mortgage payment assistance on loan delinquencies and employment stability for homeowners in Ohio, North Carolina, Rhode Island and Florida.
