The New Orleans Film and Video Society (known as the New Orleans Film Society or NOFS) is a nonprofit organization that presents the New Orleans Film Festival and helps Southern storytellers develop their careers. NOFS runs several year-round filmmaker development programs, including the Southern Producers Lab, which is dedicated to providing professional development to emerging, diverse producers from around the American South; the Emerging Voices Directors Lab, which supports Southern-based filmmakers from underrepresented communities to develop their projects and artistic visions; South Pitch, an event at the New Orleans Film Festival that enables filmmakers to garner support for their projects; and the South Summit, a convening that focuses on issues facing filmmakers in the South. This grant provides general operating support to NOFS to continue providing its local and regional public programming while deepening the support it provides to filmmakers based in and telling stories about the American South, a demographic that is underrepresented in the field and industry.
