The New England Foundation for the Arts is a Boston-based organization that provides programs focused on strengthening arts infrastructures in regions across the United States. It is working with the Chicago Dancemakers Forum to provide professional and artistic development to the Chicago dance sector through a dance development initiative. The initiative begins in 2015 with a series of professional and artistic workshops that are available to the entire Chicago dance community. It also includes a 10-day intensive professional development and collaboration lab in 2016 for 12 individual Chicago dance artists and 30 representatives of local and national dance organizations. It concludes with a 5-day, city-wide showcase of new work in 2017. The initiative is a new opportunity for professional and organizational development, artistic collaboration, and presentation. This grant funds staff and project costs to support the planning, execution, and evaluation of the Chicago dance development initiative.
