Grants

2021 (3 years)
$750,000

The National Wildlife Federation (Federation) brings together the largest, most diverse coalition of Americans from across the political spectrum, including six million members and 51 state and territorial affiliates, united to ensure that wildlife thrive in a rapidly changing world. This award supports an ambitious but pragmatic plan to strengthen broad, regionally based coalitions in fossil fuel- and manufacturing-intensive communities to advance meaningful solutions that can reduce greenhouse gases and help diversify and revitalize local economies. By elevating the voices and ideas of frontline communities to inform and educate others about the development of climate solutions, and by more strongly weaving environmental justice into climate investments, the Federation is helping to build a more just, equitable, and inclusive future. This award supports general operations.

2019 (1 year)
$500,000

The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) brings together the largest, most diverse coalition of Americans from across the political spectrum, including six million members and 51 state and territorial affiliates, united to ensure that wildlife thrive in a rapidly changing world. While escalating climate impacts, the evolving business landscape, grassroots momentum, and polling data are giving more policy makers the courage and cover to speak openly on climate and take some action, the reality of divided government and entrenched ideological constraints limit opportunities for comprehensive bipartisan climate action for at least the next 18 months. This award is helping NWF explore the most practical and palatable near-term opportunities for bipartisan climate action, including increasing investments, enacting policies without heavy regulatory components, and removing existing mandates with perverse unintended consequences.
