The National Center for Victims of Crime (NCVC) is the country’s leading resource and advocacy organization for people who have been victims and/or survivors of all types of crime as well as the professionals and organizations that serve them. NCVC provides resources, training, technical assistance, research, and evaluation for victim-based initiatives. As a Safety and Justice Challenge (SJC) strategic ally, NCVC has conducted targeted outreach in SJC Network sites to integrate and honor the voices of victims, victim advocates, and victim service providers in local systems reform efforts. This award supports NCVC's continued efforts as a strategic ally to advance meaningful community engagement between the victim community and SJC Network sites, including technical assistance and training to sites seeking to implement and/or evaluate victim initiatives; and resources about reforms that successfully reduce both jail incarceration and racial disparities while including victims' input. NCVC promotes products through the SJC exchange and in person events, including a national summit to connect criminal justice system reformers and crime survivors.

As a Safety and Justice Challenge (Challenge) strategic ally, the Center has conducted targeted outreach in Challenge Network sites to integrate the voices of victims, victim advocates, and victim service providers in local systems reform efforts. This award supports the Center’s continued efforts to: advance meaningful community engagement between the victim community and Challenge Network sites; provide technical assistance to sites seeking to implement and/or evaluate victim initiatives; collaborate with other Challenge partners to provide initiative-wide support and training; enhance communications activities, including providing rapid response assistance to sites, developing a curated web page to provide a resource hub for Challenge Network participants, and disseminating information about successful reforms that both reduce jail over-incarceration and racial disparities that address inclusive crime victims' concerns.

This award supports the Center’s continued efforts to: (1) educate its members and constituents about the Safety and Justice Challenge and disseminate information about practice and policy innovations; (2) facilitate dialogue between the victim community and other key stakeholders engaged in local justice system reform; and (3) implement the core set of principles developed to guide the participation and inclusion of the victim community in reform efforts.
