The Museum of Science and Industry (the Museum) increases science literacy and inspires future scientists through interactive exhibits and educational programs, which promote careers in the fields of science, technology, medicine, and engineering. The Museum occupies one of the few remaining structures built for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. It features more than 400,000 square feet of exhibit space, a domed movie theater, an 800-seat auditorium, two smaller theaters, and 12 educational labs. This award supports the professional development of staff members through project management training.

The Museum of Science and Industry is the first and largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere. Each year it hosts approximately 1.5 million visitors. The Museum increases science literacy and inspires future scientists through interactive exhibits that address current scientific issues as well as through its Center for the Advancement of Science Education, which promotes careers in the fields of science, technology, medicine and engineering. The Museum houses 63 exhibits and 35,000 artifacts.
