Breakin It Down Chicago
Founded in 1973, Mujeres Latinas en Acción (Mujeres) offers social services and advocacy initiatives that promote non-violence, reproductive health, and leadership development. Mujeres serves as fiscal sponsor for Breakin’ It Down (BID), a volunteer-led organization dedicated to advancing equity in the nonprofit, philanthropy, and fundraising field. This award provides support to the Breakin’ It Down Conference and Fellows Program.
Founded in 1973, Mujeres Latinas en Acción empowers Latinas through a variety of initiatives that promote non-violence, reproductive health, and leadership development. Its Latina Leadership program creates safe spaces for women, many of whom are immigrants and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. With this award for professional development, staff and Latina leaders participate in community organizing training offered by Community Organizing & Family Issues (COFI).
