The European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC) assists NGOs and lawyers in Russia in taking cases to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and strengthens their capacity to litigate and manage projects. The purpose of this three-year, $300,000 grant is to develop the capacity of local NGOs and lawyers in Russia to litigate effectively and strategically before domestic Russian courts and the ECtHR, using the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the case law of the ECtHR. The project would advance the Foundation’s strategic aims of improving access to justice in the Russian Federation, strengthening human rights protection, and holding government to account. Foundation dollars would be used for salaries, litigation expenses, training, and activities to raise public awareness.
