Planet Detroit

The Michigan Environmental Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a better environmental future for the state of Michigan that fiscally sponsors charitable work conducted by Planet Detroit, a newsroom that produces climate journalism to inform and empower Metro Detroit communities with a focus on environmental justice and accountability. By increasing public awareness, particularly in vulnerable and marginalized communities, Planet Detroit seeks to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge, public engagement, and policy action. This award provides flexible project support to educate the public about environmental and public health issues impacting Detroit and Michigan.
