Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute

The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute (Meadows) provides independent, nonpartisan, data-driven, and trusted policy and program guidance that creates equitable systemic changes so that all people can obtain effective, efficient behavioral health care when and where they need it. The award is for the Mental Health Strategic Impact Initiative (S2i), an independent project housed at Meadows. By helping philanthropy identify both immediate interventions and long-term strategies, S2i seeks to increase foundation investments to advance the transformation of mental health by catalyzing cross-sectoral reforms, strengthening collaborations, and bridging gaps. The grant award enables S2i to prioritize racial equity and the authentic engagement of people with lived experience, and focus on the intersection of the behavioral health and criminal justice systems and how communities can respond to mental health emergencies and crisis without the involvement of police, corrections, and the courts.
