Established in 1996, Maywood Fine Arts Association provides quality arts and fitness education for children and families living in Maywood and its adjacent Cook County suburbs such as Bellwood, Broadview, and Melrose Park; and Chicago neighborhoods including Ashburn, Austin, Belmont Cragin, Brighton Park, Garfield Park, North and South Lawndale, and Woodlawn. Maywood Fine Arts Association offers instruction in various disciplines, including dance, tumbling, music, visual art, drama, and karate. Maywood Fine Arts Association serves nearly 4,000 children annually ranging in age from four to 18 years including 800 enrolled in classes and more than 3,000 children who participate in outreach activities. Maywood Fine Arts Association works to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow and thrive through the arts by offering subsidized rates and scholarships so that no child is turned away from its doors. This award provides general operating support to the Maywood Fine Arts Association in the Culture, Equity, and the Arts area of the Chicago Commitment strategy.
