The Louisiana Community Journalism Center is a creation of the journalism faculty at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication, whose mission is to equip students to work in journalism, public relations, advertising, and political communications. The journalism center's mission is centered in community news – in increasing the quantity of solid, professional-caliber news in underserved Black communities in New Orleans and Baton Rouge and in multi-racial rural communities across the state. To do so, the center will provide experiential learning opportunities for eight students at LSU and Southern University, a historically Black school in Baton Rouge.
