The International Women’s Health Coalition, based in New York, conducts global, regional, and national advocacy to advance the reproductive health and rights of women and young people. The Coalition also provides technical and financial assistance to organizations in the Global South. With this award, the Coalition is advancing the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and young people in the Global South by supporting leaders and organizations and by advocating for progressive international and United States policies, programs, and funding.

This grant to the International Women’s Health Coalition will allow the organization (a) to advocate at global and regional levels to promote and protect sexual and reproductive health and rights in the developing world, and (b) to improve the capacity of new and existing partners in the global South through technical assistance and grantmaking.

The International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC), the Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Justice (RESURJ) network, and the Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN) will work as an alliance to advocate for reproductive health in the upcoming reviews of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Program of Action, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and the Rio conference on sustainable development. DAWN and IWHC will host global strategy meetings, carry out regional and national training workshops for advocates, conduct country case studies to identify challenges and opportunities in reproductive health, and participate in the preparatory and official ICPD, MDG, and Rio review processes
