International Funders for Indigenous Peoples (IFIP), founded in 2006 and based in San Francisco, CA, works to foster Indigenous solutions and partnerships among Indigenous Peoples and funders around the globe, transforming the relationship between the funding world and Indigenous Peoples to one of mutual understanding and benefit. IFIP recognizes the urgent need for solutions that are led and understood by Indigenous Peoples not only to improve lives in Indigenous communities but also as a resource for solving social, economic, and environmental challenges around the world. This grant supports the general operations of International Funders for Indigenous Peoples.

This event encouraged mutual learning, recognition of indigenous women's empowerment experiences, and political debate about the priorities of indigenous women to from strategic alliances. The knowledge gained at this meeting contributed to strengthening intercultural philanthropy.

Engagement with indigenous communities is critical for conservation outcomes in many areas of the foundation’s work, but funding these communities directly poses particular challenges. This general operating grant will support IFIP’s efforts to improve grantmaking to indigenous communities and collaboration around indigenous issues.
