The International Foundation for Research and Education is a registered nonprofit institution in India that was established with the sole purpose of founding Ashoka University, a premier private university that supports multi-disciplinary research and education in India. The Center for Social and Behavioral Change (CSBC), founded as part of the Ashoka University, has been dedicated to expanding the knowledge base on the important role behavioral sciences can play in development of public policy. CSBC is on its way to becoming a globally significant Indian institution, advancing the science and practice of behavior change, harnessing cross-disciplinary expertise to improve social outcomes through a mix of services including diagnostics, design and advisory, empirical research, and capacity building. The award supports the dissemination of the findings of the research program on Encouraging Low-Carbon Lifestyles, India's first research program that applied principles of behavioral science in climate action.
The International Foundation for Research and Education (IFRE) is a legally registered nonprofit institution in India that was established with the sole purpose of founding Ashoka University, a premier private university that supports multi-disciplinary research and education in India. This award supports the Center for Social and Behavioral Change (CSBC), a research center within Ashoka University, to conduct research in five Indian cities to study behavioral factors that influence consumer choices in four major domains of energy consumption: urban mobility, household energy consumption, material use, and food consumption. Based on insights gained from the research, the award enables IFRE (through CSBC) to develop and propose measures for larger financial investments in, and faster adoption of, low-carbon choices by consumers in the identified cities.
