The International Documentary Film Festival of Amsterdam (IDFA) is the largest documentary festival in the world. Each year, it celebrates global nonfiction cinema through screenings and programs bringing filmmakers from around the world into conversation. In its 2023 edition, IDFA debuts the artistic program Corresponding Cinemas, which explores the pathways of influences between filmmakers and artist from various parts of the world, beginning with the work of filmmaker Sky Hopinka. This grant supports the program, including travel, lodging, and event expenses and the intended outcomes are greater understanding of the linkages between filmmakers from around the world in telling stories of the impacts of land loss, colonialism, and history.

The International Documentary Festival of Amsterdam (IDFA) is the largest documentary festival in the world. IDFA’s DocLab is a major showcase for immersive and emergent nonfiction media projects. The 2022 IDFA DocLab features a panel conversation celebrating the launch of the book Collective Wisdom: Co-Creating Media for Equity and Justice produced by the MIT Open Documentary Lab. This conversation will activate a broader discussion about collective creation within the communities of documentary and journalism.
