The International Centre for Reproductive Health and Sexual Rights (INCRESE) is a not-for-profit organization established in 2000 to advocate for the sexual health and rights of youths, sexual minorities, survivors of sexual violence, commercial sex workers, and widowed women living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria. This grant is to assist INCRESE in mitigating the impact of the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons living in Nigeria. Grant funds will be used to: (a) strengthen the capacity of organisations promoting the rights of sexual minorities in Nigeria; and (b) improve protections for the rights of sexual minorities through systematic monitoring and documentation of rights violations, mobilization, and coordination among agencies and organisations that provide assistance to sexual minorities. The project will contribute to HRJ’s strategic goal, under the Freedom of Expression pillar, which emphasizes state accountability.
