Fondo Defensores

Instituto Mexicano para el Desarrollo Comunitario AC (IMDEC, Mexican Institute for Community Development), founded in 1963 and based in Guadalajara, Mexico, works in collaboration with local communities and civil society organizations to promote democracy and uphold human rights in support of Indigenous peoples and their territories. IMDEC is the fiscal sponsor of Fondo Defensores, a newly developed Indigenous Rights Fund that directs resources – monetary but also access to experts, connections, networks, security, and communications – to support and strengthen Holistic Territorial Defense processes across Indigenous territories in Mexico. This grant provides Fondo Defensores with flexible support for its primary activities.
