2023 (2 years)
$400,000

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is a nonprofit organization whose objective is to promote the global transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable energy economy. Since 2015, IEEFA has produced a significant number of analyses for India to influence action on issues of efficient power distribution, increased competitiveness of renewable energy investment, and the financial unviability of the continued use of fossil fuels. This award helps the Just Energy Transition Taskforce in Jharkhand by providing a framework to diversify the state’s economy beyond fossil fuel-based revenue. In collaboration with other organizations, IEEFA analyzes the state's dependency on such revenue sources, and develops specific roadmaps for financing assets and economic activities that support state-level entities throughout the financing process. The framework will serve as a case study for other transitioning states.
