The Inland Fisheries Research and Development Institute (IFReDI) was established in 2002 as a national research facility with a mandate to conduct research that can inform the Royal Government of Cambodia’s policies and practices related to fisheries management. IFReDI is developing a network of local fisherfolk/researchers that monitors fisheries productivity in the Tonle Sap Lake and Mekong River in Cambodia. The intended outcome of the award is a national fisheries monitoring and management program that informs the decisions of government, donors, and civil society.
The Inland Fisheries Research and Development Institute (IFReDI) conducts research to inform the Royal Government of Cambodia’s policies and practices related to fisheries management. The grant will extend IFReDI’s existing network of local fisherfolk / researchers to collect information that will improve fisheries stock assessments. It will also build a standardized monitoring practice system to track the status of fish stocks and aquatic biodiversity.
