$20,000

The Inevitable Foundation is a new national nonprofit committed to reducing the invisibility of disabled people by increasing their representation in popular culture. Now in its second year, the Inevitable Foundation runs programming aimed at strengthening the pipeline of disabled creatives in the entertainment industry. This grant provides support for the Inevitable Foundation to carry out a research project on the economic and industry conditions for disabled writers in Hollywood, especially in light of the ongoing labor dispute between the Writers Guild of America (WGA), representing 11,500 screenwriters, and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The goal of the research is to gather information about both the financial impact of the strike on disabled writers as well as information about the working conditions for disabled writers that should be taken into consideration by the WGA. The Inevitable Foundation will use findings from the research to respond to the short-term needs of those writers in its network and contribute to a longer-term campaign to improve working conditions for creatives with disabilities in Hollywood.
