The Immigration Project offers legal assistance to low-income immigrants in central and southern Illinois. This grant strengthens the organization's infrastructure and expands its capacity to serve clients in rural and underserved areas through technology upgrades, improved office space, and the addition of a volunteer coordinator. These activities are timed to facilitate the implementation of the new legalization program recently announced by President Obama that will offer undocumented immigrants a reprieve from deportation and the ability to work lawfully.
