Illinois Coalition to End Permanent Punishment

Founded in 2023, The Illinois Coalition to End Permanent Punishments (ICEPP) was created as an organizing hub for people directly impacted by the criminal legal system to come together, build a movement, and lead and implement advocacy campaigns to end the impact of a criminal record following people long after incarceration.

The purpose of this convening is to gather relevant stakeholders to promote the results of an engaged research project designed to assess the impact of civic engagement on people with criminal legal system involvement in Illinois, develop a civic engagement assessment tool specifically for this population, and create a theory of change that
describes the intended effects of increasing civic engagement among people with criminal legal system involvement.
