Sustain Arts, a project of the Hauser Institute for Civil Society at Harvard University, is a regionally-focused web-based data-visualization program that uses data sets from sources such as the U.S. Census and the Foundation Center to provide information to arts and culture organizations about their potential audience and the funding landscape. The system is customized with additional data sets that are particular to a region (such as school arts programs, arts education activities, etc.). Chicago will be the third market in which the data platform is developed and rolled-out. Grant funds will be used to engage the arts community in the planning, building, and testing of the data platform.
