Harvard University, Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics

Founded in 2008, The Democratic Knowledge Project (DKP) which became a part of the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University in 2015 under the leadership of Danielle Allen, is a K-12 civics education initiative focused on research, resource and assessment development, and implementation. Expanding the successful pilot of the Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning (SILT), a professional development program for teachers, this award supports Safra’s DKP in designing, implementing, and evaluating a week-long in-person summer learning institute for civics educators in the summers of 2023 and 2024.
