Guitars Over Guns offers students from historically underserved communities in Chicago a powerful combination of music education and mentorship. Professional musicians help students overcome hardship, find their voice, and reach their potential. Guitars Over Guns’ curriculum, which emphasizes social-emotional learning and outcomes through music and arts instruction, creates safe spaces for youth to express themselves through music and empowers them to make positive choices at school, at home, and in their communities. With this award, a staff member attends The Collaborative Conference, a three-day experience dedicated to emerging fundraising leaders and marketing directors within the nonprofit field.
