Griot Studios

Griot Studios is a multimedia production company that creates multi-platform content through narrative fiction, documentaries, animation, and interactive games. Griot unites the techniques from user-centered design with creative storytelling skills to produce and deliver quality work with a strong emphasis on social justice. A previous On Nigeria grant enabled Griot to develop a political thriller, 4th Republic, which was widely viewed across university campuses and is now on Netflix. With this award, Griot Studios develops and disseminates adventure video games that emphasize citizens' roles and responsibilities in demanding government transparency and accountability. The award contributes to the reduction of corruption and promotion of accountability through behavioral change.

Griot Studios is a for-profit media and communications company with experience in developing issue-based films. In 2012, Griot Studios produced Fueling Poverty, a widely acclaimed feature film on corruption and accountability. With this award, Griot Studios is producing a feature film, documentary, and interactive trivia game to sensitize and galvanize citizens to enable them to understand the cost of corruption on their lives and the preventive actions they can take. The project contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption by building an atmosphere of accountability, transparency, and good governance in Nigeria.
