Greater Southwest Development Corporation

Founded in 1974, Greater Southwest Development Corporation seeks to be a catalyst for creating and maintaining a vital Southwest Chicago community by empowering, building, and sustaining development that raises the quality of life for neighborhood residents, businesses, and industries. Through business services, community development, real estate development, senior housing, and housing counseling, the organization seeks to stabilize housing, create economic opportunity, and promote multicultural heritage in Gage Park and the surrounding communities that comprise the Greater Southwest region. This award for general operating support enables the organization to offer a unique portfolio of economic and community development services and to take a comprehensive approach to its work in the Southwest region of Chicago.

To support a comprehensive program to limit the extent of foreclosure in a New Communities Program neighborhood in Chicago under the Foreclosure Prevention and Mitigation Project.
