Grantmakers for Effective Organizations

Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO), founded in 1998 and based in Washington, D.C., organizes national and topically focused programming that facilitates the sharing of information and experiences among members to support a more efficient, accountable, equitable, and effective philanthropic sector. Through these activities, GEO helps to connect more than 6,000 individuals from foundations, government agencies, and philanthropy-serving organizations via its conferences, online discussions, and educational programs. This grant provides GEO with support for general operations, some of which may be used to support its 2022 National Conference in Chicago.

Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) is a Washington-based non-profit membership organization devoted to helping grantmakers achieve more measurable results.

Its 2017 Learning Conference, set for May 31 and June 1 in Chicago, is being planned and developed in partnership with Forefront as well as other Chicago-based funders and non-profits. Held every other year, the Learning Conference hosts discussions, networking opportunities and site visits for participants working to improve philanthropic practice through learning, monitoring, and evaluation.

Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) is a Washington-based non-profit membership organization devoted to helping funders achieve more measurable results. It connects more than 4200 individual members from 450 foundations, government agencies and philanthropy-related organizations. This grant provides general support for GEO’s work to create and provide information, conferences and seminars for foundation staff, and custom services tailored to the needs of foundation staff and board members. Its work facilitates sharing of information and experiences among members and is intended to result in a more efficient, accountable, and effective philanthropic sector.
