Global Kids is a New York City-based non-profit that provides civic learning opportunities for youth and helps young people of diverse backgrounds develop the knowledge, skills, and experience they need to become successful citizens, including a wide range of programs using badge systems to support middle and high school students’ learning in school, and in other venues. It will use this grant to develop a comprehensive badge system for young people based on Global Kids’ programs and activities of the Hive Learning Networks in Chicago and New York that can serve as a model for building other badge systems elsewhere.
To support new mechanisms to use virtual worlds for youth development, and to provide technical assistance to civic and cultural institutions interested in using immersive online spaces for educational programming (over two years).
