NEXUS
Nexus, which receives its fiscal sponsorship from the Giving Back Fund, educates, connects, and supports next generation philanthropists, non-profit leaders, and policymakers confronting global challenges. Founded in 2011, Nexus works to bridge communities of wealth and social entrepreneurship, to encourage philanthropy among younger members of wealthy families, to advise family offices, and to open dialogue among next generation donors and established philanthropic institutions. Participants and members in the Nexus community influence an estimated $700 billion in private family wealth. This award allows Nexus to move beyond its current status as a relatively informal network to a substantial, effective, and organized entity. It supports more rigorous monitoring of Nexus's work; fosters ties between next generation philanthropists, MacArthur staff, and potential Foundation grantees; and provides funds for eight global events, more than eighty smaller "salons," and a small number of topically-oriented delegations, retreats and forums.
