Established in 2003, Girl Child Concerns (GCC), a Nigerian nonprofit, promotes girls’ right to education through research, advocacy, and empowerment programs for parents, students, and women. The previous support to GCC helped to promote transparency and prevent corruption in 70 schools in Kaduna state by monitoring the school feeding program. With this tie-off award, GCC is establishing a network of community-based actors to use their monitoring and advocacy skills from tracking the school feeding program to demand accountability from local government authorities. The award contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption and strengthening accountability, transparency, and participation.
