As the Foundation expands its national fiscal work to address state and local fiscal challenges, it funds research and evidence that can help policymakers understand the drivers of fiscal challenges, policy options, and their consequences. This grant supports "Confronting Local Fiscal Crises: Moving to Sustainability," a project that will help state and local policymakers understand how to address a local fiscal crisis. Through research, analysis and engagement with state and local policymakers, it will examine and assess state and local governments’ options when a local government is failing, and provide policymakers with information and policy models to address future fiscal crises.
