Fundación Amigos de la Naturaleza works in Bolivia on natural resource conservation, with special attention to management of fire in Bolivian lowland forests, where it develops early warning systems, establishes coordination mechanisms for controlled use of fire and reduces the occurrence of wildfires in natural habitats. This project consolidates an innovative community-based approach to fire management and links it with regional policies for fire prevention and a national fire watch and advisory. The project helps natural resource-dependent communities adapt to a changing climate and mitigate devastating risks of fire by incorporating scientific knowledge into decisions, better managing their lands, and strengthening community groups.
