Fund for War-Affected Children and Youth (Uganda Fund)

The Fund for War-Affected Children and Youth in Northern Uganda (Uganda Fund) is an intermediary grant-making organization that has operated in Uganda for a decade (2006-2016). Based in the northern town of Gulu, the Fund was established to address the deficits of the two-decade Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) war, and to get a new generation on its feet. The Fund builds trust with local partners and empowers them to create sustainable, enterprising grassroots solutions for recovery. This award supports the Fund’s livelihood initiatives, psycho-social counselling, and reintegration of Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV) survivors and their children into their communities.

The Fund for War-Affected Children and Youth in Northern Uganda (Uganda Fund) is an intermediary grantmaking organization based in Gulu that was established to address the deficits of the two-decade Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) war and to get a new generation on its feet. Funds support the hosting of The Missing Peace 3, a three-day meeting in Entebbe, Uganda, engaging 70-80 conflict-related sexual violence experts and practitioners from Kenya, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Support for the Fund for War-Affected Children and Youth in Uganda, an intermediary grant-making organization based in Northern Uganda, will provide livelihood opportunities to victims of sexual and gender-based violence in the post-conflict regions of Northern Uganda.

The Fund for War-Affected Children and Youth in Northern Uganda (Uganda Fund) is a local grantmaking entity based in northern Uganda that supports community-initiated projects. It provides assistance to young people to help balance the deficits brought on by the youth abductions during the conflict with the Lord’s Resistance Army and get a new generation on its feet. With the proposed general support grant, the Uganda Fund will make greater investment in its current grantees (The Pader Girls Academy, Gulu University, Youth Leadership Project, Center for Reparation and Rehabilitation, and the Northern Uganda Transitional Justice Group), allowing them to expand programs and services that have been determined based on community need and demand. The Uganda Fund also anticipates selecting additional local organizations within its focus areas to join its suite of grantees.
