Founded in 2010, Democracy Works is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and using data and technology in collaboration with election offices to amplify election officials as they work to defend access to and facilitate participation in democracy. They leverage an interdisciplinary team of software developers, public policy experts, and civic organizers, alongside election officials, peer institutions, corporate tech organizations, and nonprofit partners, to improve the experiences of voters and election officials alike. Democracy Works is building the tools needed to upgrade the infrastructure of our democracy by connecting voters with quality, accurate, and providing a source of updated voting information online. Among their notable tools, Democracy Works created and manages TurboVote, which providing reliable, timely, relevant information and useful voting guidance on elections and how to participate. This award is in support of general operations.

Founded in 2010, Democracy Works is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that develops technologies and services intended to increase voter turnout by making voter registration and voting easy. Democracy Works’ website, TurboVote.org, helps citizens register to vote, obtain absentee ballots, find voting locations, learn about coming elections, and track the status of mail-in ballots. To encourage registration and use of its services, Democracy Works partners with colleges and universities to provide voter registration services for students. It also works with state and local elections officials to improve elections administration, and provides contract services to others in the field of elections administration. Grant funds will be used primarily for staff salaries.
