Daria Media

Established in 2015, Daria Media Limited (DML) is a for-profit media organization committed to providing accurate, unbiased news and information that empowers citizens to hold public and private sectors accountable. The previous award to Daria Media supported a radio program called The Searchlight, which examined accountability and anti-corruption in the public and private sectors; produced a documentary on corruption during the COVID-19 pandemic, and trained female journalists. Daria Media is using this final award to promote accountability and anti-corruption by hosting a series of interactive radio and televisions programs before and after the 2023 elections; producing a documentary on women seeking elected office; and training early-career female journalists in investigative journalism. The award will strengthen investigative and data-driven journalism and promote citizen engagement in the 2023 elections which will help to reduce corruption and promote accountability in Nigeria.

Daria Media Limited, a for-profit media organization, began operations in 2015 with a commitment to providing accurate, unbiased news and information and to carry out programs that empower citizens with information to hold public and private sectors accountable. With this award, Daria Media is hosting a radio program called The Searchlight, which examines the performance of key public and private sectors and their impacts on citizens. Daria Media is also contributing to the growth and sustainability of the media sector through mentorship of young journalists and experimenting with various media business models. The project contributes to strengthening the training and practice of investigative and data-driven journalism, to curb corruption and promote accountability.
