The Council on Strategic Risks (CSR) anticipates, analyzes, and addresses core systemic risks to security in the 21st century, and acts to address those threats in a manner that is commensurate to their scale, consequence, and probability. CSR fosters multidisciplinary, nonpartisan dialogue to explore the future of nuclear energy, and elevates policy questions on this topic, in U.S. policy discourse. The award supports work to reinvigorate U.S. leadership on security, safety, and nonproliferation related to nuclear energy as it continues to be viewed by many countries as a major component of strategies for addressing climate change.

The Council on Strategic Risks (CSR) anticipates, analyzes, and addresses core systemic risks to security in the 21st century, and acts to address those threats in a manner that is commensurate to their scale, consequence and probability. This award provides support for CSR experts to travel to The Hague, Netherlands to engage with policy makers representing NATO member countries. The intended outcome of this award is to strengthen the case for eliminating nuclear-armed cruise missiles, thus lowering the risk of nuclear conflict and stopping a new arms race.

The Council on Strategic Risks anticipates, analyzes, and addresses core systemic risks to security in the 21st century, and acts to address those threats in a manner that is commensurate to their scale, consequence and probability. This award continues a project previously supported by MacArthur at the Sustainable Markets Foundation that established the Working Group on Climate, Nuclear, and Security Affairs. The Working Group explores emerging trends in the intersecting spheres of climate and nuclear issues, and produces recommendations to inform policy making in both.
