The Council on Foundations, founded in 1949 and based in Washington D.C., is a nonprofit membership association of more than 700 grantmaking foundations and corporations worldwide. The Council provides public policy insights, legal assistance, professional development, and networking opportunities to the philanthropic field through a variety of programs and its annual conference. It represents the interests of the philanthropic sector in Washington, hosts topically-oriented affinity groups, and produces research on a variety of topics ranging from taxation to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This grant supports the general operations of the Council on Foundations and is also intended in lieu of dues.

This grant is for general support, and is also intended in lieu of dues, which for a foundation of MacArthur’s size would be assessed at $25,000 per year.
