The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing (CASW) is committed to improving the quantity and quality of science news reaching the public. Led by a board of directors composed of senior journalists and others committed to excellence in the communication of science, CASW develops and funds programs to help reporters and writers produce accurate and informative stories about developments in science, technology, medicine, and the environment. This X-Grant supports CASW, in partnership with Floodlight and the Reynolds Journalism Institute, to create and convene a a Climate News Task Force project to increase and improve U.S. climate journalism by supporting collaboration between U.S. news outlets and informing and advocating for increased and improved philanthropic support for climate journalism. The Task Force will bring together a diverse cross-section of U.S. news organizations that produce news about climate change to identify ways to collaborate on reporting and audience engagement, share tools and resources, and identify ways to sustain climate reporting.
