Somos El Poder
Commonweal, founded in 1975 and based in Bolinas, CA, incubates and supports different projects focused on health and healing, art and education, and environment and justice. Somos El Poder (SEP) is a project housed at Commonweal supporting resource mobilization of Latinx focused nonprofits nationwide, thereby strengthening and growing the Latinx nonprofit sector, its services, advocacy, and programs. SEP is a fundraising institute that aims to teach successful development methods and strategies with the goal of unlocking significant philanthropic capital for organizations serving the needs of Latinx communities and encouraging more people to enter the fundraising profession. This grant provides flexible support to SEP for its core activities.

SEP is dedicated to improving and growing the fundraising capacity of Latinx-focused nonprofits through professional development, training, and organizational growth. With this award, SEP offers a fundraising training conference in Chicago in the Spring of 2024.
