(Coda) is an independent international news organization that pursues deep dive reporting on global disinformation, the war on science, and the ways in which authoritarian regimes attempt to rewrite history. Its team of journalists based around the world produce in-depth reporting on how emergent global issues are connected, in text and audio formats, which are distributed through partnerships with major media outlets. This grant supports Coda’s general operations, and the intended results are more deeply reported investigations on interrelated global trends reaching audiences around the world and generating greater public understanding.

For the past four years, Coda has been covering Putin and Russia and has documented the conditions leading to the war in Ukraine. Its reporting is disseminated by news outlets and policy journals in the United States, Europe, and around the world, and provides a level of context that goes beyond breaking news. This grant will enable Coda to continue and to deepen its reporting in Ukraine and Russia with a dedicated Senior Reporter. The intended outcome is sustained and expert coverage of the ongoing war and its ramifications for a global audience.
