Coalition for Evidence-Based Policy

The non-profit, nonpartisan Coalition for Evidence-Based Policy seeks to increase government effectiveness through the use of rigorous evidence about what works. It advocates many types of research to identify the most promising social interventions, but focuses principally on evidence of effectiveness as demonstrated by well-conducted, randomized controlled trials. With no affiliation to programs or program models, and no financial interest in the policy ideas it supports, the Coalition serves as an independent, objective source of expertise to federal officials on evidence-based programs – especially now, when the Executive Branch and Congress are seeking to advance evidence-based programs and are receptive to credible guidance.

The Coalition for Evidence-Based Policy is a Washington, D.C.-based, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works with federal policymakers to advance evidence-based reforms in major U.S. social programs. This project aims to accelerate and institutionalize what are now informal scoring developments by the Office of Management and Budget and Congressional Budget Office, whereby evidence-based programs in one area that generate savings in another area of federal activity are rewarded in official budget scoring processes.
