Ciudadanos en Apoyo a los Derechos Humanos

Ciudadanos en Apoyo a los Derechos Humanos promotes human rights in Nuevo Leon state through case documentation, litigation and assistance to victims. The award helps advance Nuevo Leon’s investigations of disappearances through litigation, advocacy, and monitoring. The award supports monitoring progress on search and investigation of disappearances, and activities to increase state authorities’ accountability.

Ciudadanos en Apoyo a los Derechos Humanos provides legal representation and assistance to victims of human rights violations and their families, and works with local and national authorities to advance human rights protections. It is one of the leading organizations advocating policies to address disappearances in northern Nuevo León state. The award supports Ciudadanos en Apoyo a los Derechos Humanos to participate in an emerging coalition of civil society groups promoting an autonomous and effective Prosecutor’s Office in Nuevo León, and to connect that work to the national-level coalition for the National Prosecutor’s Office. It also supports monitoring activities to assess the Prosecutor’s Office’s performance in investigating human rights violations and prosecuting perpetrators.
