Founded in 1981, the Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a nonprofit organization in Chicago's northside neighborhood of Uptown. It was founded by Asian immigrant leaders to provide a sense of community belonging and to access resources for newly arrived immigrants. Since then, CMAA has evolved into a pan-immigrant social services agency, serving clients from over 40 countries, including Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. In addition, CMAA offers workforce development services, youth programming, in-home elderly care services, immigration and citizenship legal representation, housing assistance, and Illinois' only Asian American Pacific Islander-led Small Business Development Center. This award supports the general operations of CMAA.
