The Chicago Torture Justice Center (CTJC) is the first center in the United States dedicated to survivors of domestic torture. Chicago Torture Justice Center is a community-based organization that addresses the trauma of police violence and institutionalized racism by providing access to healing and wellness services and trauma-informed resources while building stronger community connections. This award supports two purposes that directly respond to the COVID-19 crisis. The award supports a series of online convenings between September and December of 2020 focused on grief and community healing; the remainder of the award supports professional development for the organization’s staff.
