Founded in 1867, Chicago State University (CSU) is dedicated to equity in education, serving as the only U.S. Department of Education-designated four-year Predominantly Black Institution in Illinois. Located in Chicago's Roseland community, CSU serves as a community anchor for students and residents of the surrounding communities. CSU convenes residents and businesses in a series of community meetings to attract development and investment into the Roseland neighborhood by creating a place-based plan for the eastern 95th Street corridor. With this award, CSU expands the series to educate residents on sustainable business development strategies.
